Mike has more than 38 years of experience providing audit and business advisory services to the technology, biotech, software, manufacturing, medical device, and venture capital/private equity industries. He spent over 20 years with KPMG in various leadership roles before he retired in 2023. He is a sought-after speaker on culture, ethics, talent, governance, and other business topics.
Before retiring from KPMG in 2023, Mike served as the Lead Partner for Culture, a new role designated by the CEO. He was tasked with building off established strategic initiatives and implementing front-line talent and culture-building programming to embed authentic values companywide. He worked to establish programs that focused on holistic development of firm Partners with a focus on improving skills around leadership, time and stress management, well-being, and camaraderie. He also partnered closely with the Chief Diversity Officer to align culture efforts with corporate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) goals. Prior to this role Mike served on KPMG’s Board of Directors for five years, with the last two years as Lead Director, and was recognized for helping to steer the firm through complex periods of transformation and uncertainty. He was instrumental in fortifying board governance including revamping company-wide culture and values, enhancing board processes, improving transparency and trust between the board and firm Partners, and spearheading a people-first pandemic response working to maintain a connected workforce while continuing to provide excellent service to clients.
Mike enjoys skiing, biking, travel, reading and learning new and interesting things. Mike also enjoys spending time with his wife, Julie, and two adult children, and their fabulous Golden Retriever, Phoebe. Mike’s passion is empowering and supporting people to achieve things they never thought possible.
