Cheta Emba

She/her

Cheta Emba is an Olympian and member of the USA Women’s Rugby program. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Molecular & Cellular Biology and History of Science at Harvard University, she moved to Chula Vista, CA, to join the women’s 7s residency program. During her time in the program, Cheta and her team reached several milestones, including their highest world ranking, their first-ever HSBC tournament gold medal, multiple Olympic qualifications, and most recently, an Olympic bronze medal. These successes were accompanied by a significant internal overhaul of team culture and player experience.

As a lifelong athlete with a unique background, Cheta offers a fresh perspective on the roles, challenges, and opportunities in elite team sports. Her off-pitch endeavors include community outreach, personal development projects, and advocacy as a Player’s Association representative, all of which offer valuable lessons. Passionate about using sport as a vehicle for good and a tool for self-expression, especially for women and girls, Cheta has shared her insights at various speaking engagements with large global companies, supporting individuals and groups that courageously aspire to greatness.
